Getting you started

When you book with us, we then send your details to a driving instructor in your area. Once we have done this they will give you a call the same day to book you in for your first lesson at a convenient time for you.

When you have your lesson booked, we will send you a text reminder with the time and date of your first lesson. You will also receive a welcome pack through the post so that you can read through the Terms and Conditions, sign them and take them to your instructor on the day of your first lesson. You will also receive an appointment card in your welcome pack so that you can keep track of your lessons.

Our instructors will greet you at your door, so don’t worry about having to meet them anywhere.

Drug driving

Cannabis (WEED) – people who drive while under the influence of cannabis may think that they are ok because they may drive slower. However,

cannabis slows reactions and causes less concentration. This can result in having little/ no control over the car.

Cocaine – This drug makes people feel more confident. This means that they may drive faster/ do aggressive manoeuvre.

Ecstasy (MDMA) - This drug also makes you feel more confident and is

enormously dangerous to drive on because it results in blurry vision, sensitive perception of sounds and different judgment to risks and dangers.

To a lot of people it goes as a surprise that the penalties for drug driving are actually the same as for drink driving! You may think you are in control of the car while on drugs. Think again. Convictions of drug driving:

  • Criminal record

  • Unlimited fine

  • Minimum of 12-month driving ban

  • Up to 6 months in prison

  • Endorsement on your driving license for 11 years

The consequences of drug driving convictions do not stop there! It can also result in the following:

  • Losing your job

  • Having a criminal record can affect getting a job

  • Car insurance costs get bumped up

  • Problems going to certain countries (USA, Australia)

Please think before getting in the car while on drugs! The link below is a video for drug driving awareness!

First time drivers

It is completely up to you when you wish to buy your first car. Some wait till

after they’ve passed their test, some people get one before they start their lessons. Either way it may be best to get an inexpensive car for your first car as it will be more affordable if you damage it in any way. There’s not much point splashing out on a fancy car as a first-time buyer. However, you do want the car to suit a certain criteria. When looking for your first car, you should look for the following features:

  • Cheap to run

  • Not too powerful

  • Easy to manoeuvre

  • Packed with safety kit

  • Has a low insurance rating

  • Some Insurance companies that can fit in a black box recorder to monitor your driving which helps to reduce your insurance

  • Look for a car with light steering (easy steering)

  • Large windows (see clearer)

All of these cars below suit these criteria, here are the top 10 cars for first time drivers (2017) to give you an idea on what sort of cars you may want.

1. Skoda Citigo/VW up!/SEAT Mii

2. Volkswagen Polo

3. Ford Fiesta

4. Hyundai i10

5. Ford Ka+

6. MINI

7. Dacia Sandero

8. Vauxhall Corsa

9. Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 108/Citroen C1

10. Vauxhall Viva
