First lesson preparation
Before your lessons:
· Remember your provisional licence
· Get some sleep the night before (to make sure you are not tired)
· Do NOT drink alcohol the night before
· Have breakfast
· Double check where the instructor is picking you up
· Choose comfortable shoes
· Wear glasses (if needed)
· Have your money prepared (if not pre-paid online)
Once you get started, try to relax and remember that your instructor has their own set of dual controls so you can focus on learning without feeling worried.
After your lesson
Your instructor will drop you off at home once you’ve finished your lesson, this then gives you chance to give feedback on how you found the lesson and anything you think you need more work on next time, you should also book your next lesson with your instructor at this point.
Ideally, you should have 1 or 2 hours a week to minimise time between lessons, so you don't forget what you're learning.
But don't rush, everyone learns at their own pace and it's important to be fully equipped when you take your test. If you're wondering how many driving lessons you'll need, everyone is different so it will take the instructor having a lesson with you to get a rough estimate on how many you will need but don’t worry you'll be fine.
Think of the silliest person you know who can drive, if they can do it, you can too.
And if you think of a question, ask your instructor. I guarantee it's not the stupidest thing your instructor will have heard.
