Ordering your provisional licence

Ordering your provisional licence is the first step you take towards being able to get in a car and be behind the wheel. You can either purchase your provisional licence online via the government website or you can also do it through your local post office!

You will need to order your provisional before you take your theory as well as lessons as you will need to use your licence number to book in your theory test.

 

Best way to prepare yourself for your first lesson

You don’t have to but the first piece of advice we could give is if you haven’t already passed your theory test then just to have a read of the highway code. It’s just something that could help you to have a bit of a better understanding on what it is you are learning about.

Make sure you’ve had plenty of rest, as you will already know driving when tired is dangerous and could potentially cost you your life.

Bring along your provisional licence, this is because we want to ensure that you can be behind the wheel and to make sure that the licence is valid.

Make sure you’re comfortable, this means adjusting your seat so you’re comfy, wear some nice comfy shoes and some baggy comfy clothing for ease of movement.

Always ensure that if you are learning to drive and require glasses then to either see an optician before learning or make sure to bring them along with you. The instructor will not put your safety at risk by letting you drive without glasses if you are unable to read anything from a certain distance.

Don’t worry about asking lots of questions, you want to make sure you learn plenty.

Practice makes perfect! It may be a lot to take in on your first lesson, but not to worry because if you keep practicing then you will be on the road in no time.

 

The Theory Test

The theory test can either be passed before you start taking your driving lessons or alongside, you must have passed your theory by the time you take your practical test.
