Reasons to learn to drive

Driving opens lots more opportunities for jobs. Some companies require you to hold a driver’s licence when you apply for a job there. You would need to use a car in many different job roles. You could become a delivery driver, takeaway driver or even a driving instructor.

 

If you want to move away from your parents, don’t worry about not being able to see them as you can do it and still visit them. Even if you live in a different part of the country, it is just a drive away.

 

When to buy a car

If you are unsure on whether to buy a car as you are not sure on your progress, just ask your instructor for some advice. There are lots of places and websites that can help you decide on which car would be best for you. A lot of pupils find that buying a car while they are learning helps them progress a massive amount and can sometimes be a big milestone for their progress.  At the end of the day, it is your money and if you want to buy a car to practice in you should go for it.

 

Provisional licence

Firstly, when applying for your provisional licence make sure you either get your form from the post office or if you go online be sure you are on the official government website. There are some official sounding third party companies that will submit the application form for you but will charge you a fee.

 

You can apply for your provisional two months before your 17^th birthday. Once you have your provisional licence and you have turned 17, you can then start your lessons and you can also take your theory test.
